Nehru World School is delighted to announce the 7th edition of Thoughts Inclusive – The Debating Skills Workshop and Competition, an inspiring platform that fosters critical thinking and engaging dialogue on contemporary global issues. Designed for Grades 9-12, this event introduces students to the prestigious World Schools Debating Competition (WSDC) format in a competitive yet constructive environment.

 

Event Details

  • Date: Thursday, 23rd January 2025

  • Timing: 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

  • Venue: Nehru World School, E – Block Shastri Nagar, Ghaziabad

  • Team Size: 3 members per school​

 

Topics for debate and sides will be assigned post-registration. The workshop will provide a comprehensive understanding of the WSDC format and the adapted version for the event. Each school is expected to prepare to debate both sides of their assigned topic, enhancing the spontaneity and depth of their arguments.

Why Participate?
This event offers students a chance to:

  • Explore and debate global and contemporary topics.

  • Network with peers from various schools.

  • Enhance their debating and reasoning skills.

 

Debate Format Highlights

  • Teams of 3 will engage in debates featuring:

    • Two main 6-minute speeches (for/against).

    • A 4-minute summary speech consolidating the team’s arguments.

  • The first minute of main speeches is protected (no interjections).

  • Sides will be assigned after the workshop session, fostering spontaneity and preparation.

  • Students will debate both sides of their assigned topic.

Recognition will be given for:

  • Best Team

  • Best Individual Speaker
